 ONE ON ONE MEMBER MEETINGS

Guidelines for Member meetings

  1.  Call a fellow member and invite them to a one hour meeting.  Set up time and place.  Kitchen tables are great or coffee houses, diners, and fast food places.  It is best to meet outside peak business hours for these places if possible.

  2.  The purpose of the meeting is to establish open lines of communication and understand each others goals within the JPRN network.

  3. Each member should take about 5 minutes to talk about themselves on a personal level, subjects could include, family, activities, hobbies and “what is the one thing that very few people know about me”.

  4.  Then member A should take about 20 minutes to layout their goals, plans and job seeking activities which should include items like phone calls per day, use of network, whom are you calling, resumes out and interviews set.  There should be a list of the target companies and individuals that each member wants to be warmly introduced to.  While member A speaks, member B should be listening intently, writing down people in their network to introduce member A to and asking pointed questions to clarify what member A is asking for. This part should be a dialogue not a lecture.  Member B keeps time and makes sure that member A stays within the 20 minutes.

  5.  The two members should switch roles for the next twenty minutes.

  6.  For the next 10 minutes discuss your notes and identify action steps to take for each other, and clarify those steps.  The action steps should include things as warm introductions in the areas the members are looking for, sharing informational sources, assisting each other in expanding the list of companies on your target list, and a next date (in person or by phone and should be much shorter in time spent) to communicate the success of shared contacts and progress in reaching goals.

  7.  Please thank each other for expanding your network and stay in touch.  It is vital to share success stories as they happen.  It will raise both of you up!!
